Abstract

Los ecosistemas presentan limitaciones para brindar simultáneamente y a la máxima tasaposible los distintos tipos de bienes y servicios requeridos por la sociedad. Cuando seprograma o planifica el sistema agropecuario para maximizar la producción de bienes ybeneficios económicos en el corto plazo se afecta la provisión de servicios intangibles y elbienestar socioeconómico regional en el mediano a largo plazo. Para reforzar la resiliencia de los agroecosistemas y por tanto su capacidad para afrontarperturbaciones con efectos catastróficos, es esencial el mantenimiento de algunos procesosecológicos básicos, como son la formación de un suelo funcional, con actividad orgánica yacumulación de humus estable, el papel de los herbívoros en la eliminación del exceso debiomasa combustible y el manejo de un nivel adecuado de biodiversidad/complejidadestructural en la gestión forestal.
