Abstract

El Prado de Pastos Cortos es una comunidad que vegeta preferentemente en suelos playos que fueron erosionados. Se caracteriza por la presencia de pastos de crecimiento reducido y por numerosas especies de hierbas bajas que llenan de colorido la comunidad en primavera-verano. Microchloa indica y Tripogon spicatus son las dos especies dominantes y que dan el característico aspecto de vegetación aparentemente seca. Estas dos gramíneas tienen una amplia distribución en regiones tropicales y subtropicales, encontrándose ambas en el N argentino hasta las Sierras de Tandil (Molina & Rúgolo de Agrasar, 2006).
