Abstract

Commelina erecta es una monocotiledónea herbácea nativa de América. Originalmente se la encontrabasolo en áreas no cultivadas, pero al generalizarse el uso de la labranza cero y del glifosato, se expandióhacia los lotes cultivados. Este cambio de hábitat ocurrió debido a que prefi ere suelos sin remoción y aque tolera el glifosato. Sin embargo, esta capacidad de tolerar solo se observa en plantas con más decinco hojas. La disminución de la sensibilidad en estadios avanzados de crecimiento se relaciona conla presencia del rizoma y con una mayor cantidad de ceras epicuticulares sobre las hojas. Además, estaespecie presenta un alto potencial reproductivo, favorecido por la presencia de un sistema de rizomascon un banco de yemas viables y por la producción de dos tipos de semillas con alto nivel de viabilidady con distintos comportamiento de dormición. Un cambio de modelo productivo podría resultar en unmanejo más exitoso de esta especie.
