Abstract: This paper proposes a journey through our literary past, searching for the presence of medieval travel books in 19th and 20th centuries Histories of Spanish Literature, until completing this outlook with useful third millennium handbooks. We aim to demonstrate the unjust place in which literary criticism placed these texts that, paradoxically, had been so well read at their time.
