De la utopía cristiana a las prácticas espaciales nativas. Urbanidad y formas cotidianas del gobierno en las misiones fronterizas de la Sudamérica colonial

Abstract

Este artículo analiza la organización urbana de las misiones jesuíticas del Paraguay teniendo en cuenta sus antecedentes y transformaciones a lo largo del tiempo. Se centra tanto en los elementos arquitectónicos que contribuyeron al gobierno y la administración de la población indígena, enfatizando los mecanismos de control social y disciplina ejercidas por los jesuitas, como en la participación indígena en la configuración de la estructura espacial misional. Argumento que las prácticas y representaciones espaciales indígenas cuestionan la idea canónica del espacio misional como un ámbito cerrado y permiten reconceptualizarlo como una red de conexiones y circulaciones entre el núcleo urbano y sus alrededores.
