Comportamiento espacio Temporal de las sequías en la región del Noroeste Argentino

Abstract

Se han estudiado las intensidades de las sequías climáticas con el tiempo para el Noroeste Argentino. Las mismas han sido definidas como un apartamiento negativo de la mediana y fueron clasificadas de acuerdo a un criterio de partición decílica. Veintidós localidades con información pluviométrica han sido analizadas en la región, que ha sido dividida para el estudio en tres: a)llano del este, b)piedemonte y c)valles intermontanos. Como la región posee una marcada estación seca durante el invierno del Hemisferio Sur, el análisis se realizó en dos períodos, el lluvioso durante el semestre ONDEFM (más variable) y el seco en los meses de AMJJAS (menos variable). Del análisis surge que las sequías más intensos durante los años 1930-87, fueron las correspondientes a los años 1934-35, 1937-38 y 1971-72, pertenecientes al primer período. Siguiendo un criterio morfológico se detectó que la zona pedemontana es la más sensible al fenómeno. También se analizaron las coincidencias temporales de rachas secas de uno, dos, tres y cuatro meses consecutivos por mes y año.
