Abstract

In this article we will analyze the question of the slave market as one of the central keys that clarify the Correntine slave experience. In the first place, we will focus on presenting a brief state of the art on historiography that has worked on economic issues and, secondly, we will characterize the documentary sources that we will turn to in this article. Third, we will consider the dynamics of the market taking into account the oscillations of sales and prices in relation to other societies with slaves of the Río de la Plata, such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Montevideo. We will focus on who constituted as buyers and sellers of slaves in the Correntino area. In the analysis, we will be interested in considering the prices of the subjects and how different variables influenced the maximum-minimum prices. We will appeal to a diverse documentary corpus formed by notarial, census and judicial sources that are kept in the General Archive of the Province of Corrientes.
