El verdadero policía y sus sinsabores : Esbozos para una interpretación de la violencia policial

Abstract

En este libro abordaremos la violencia policial –sólo algunas formas de la misma– y descubriremos que para sus actores son acciones legítimas y por ello no son definidas como violentas. Nuestro deseo es, entonces, bucear en esas definiciones, rastrear los criterios que legitiman las acciones e indagar las representaciones que las validan. Ahondaremos, para ello, en los sentidos que los policías les otorgan a sus prácticas, interpretando y explicando qué definen como violencia y qué no. Proponemos, entonces, una investigación que requiere un doble desplazamiento respecto a la violencia en general y la violencia policial en particular. El primer desplazamiento nos lleva a suspender las sentencias morales sobre las prácticas analizadas. Operación necesaria –aunque embarazosa y dificultosa– si deseamos comprender las lógicas de la violencia policial. Buscamos una comprensión que nunca –y bajo ningún punto de vista– pueda ser entendida como una justificación, sino como un intento riguroso de interpretación de los resortes de la acción policial. Como sostiene Mariana Sirimarco al referirse a su trabajo de investigación entre policías “no se trata de erigir un volumen laudatorio o agravante de la policía, sino de reforzar algo que ya se expuso suficientemente: que comprender no significa justificar, ni entraña en si una defensa a un ataque”. Esta idea guía nuestro recorrido.
