Ectoparásitos hematófagos en el buche de pichones de Myiopsitta monachus (Boddaert) (Aves: Psittacidae)

Abstract

Como parte de un proyecto referido a la dieta de esta especie, se examinaron en vivo contenidos de buches de pichones de la localidad de Punta Blanca (partido de Magdalena, provincia de Buenos Aires). En cinco de los lavados efectuados los días 20 y 27 de diciembre de 1997 se hallaron una hembra y distintos estadíos de desarrollo de Psitticimex uritui, hallándose también en uno de ellos una hembra de la pulga Hectopsylla psittaci. Esta información pone en evidencia que los pichones practican un activo grooming consigo mismo o con sus hermanos de nidada.
