Una manera efectiva de abordar la sanidad de los cultivos forestales es mediante la implementación de una estrategia de manejo integrado de plagas (MIP). Esta estrategia combina acciones de vigilancia y monitoreo, prevención, y reducción del daño, con el fin de mantener las poblaciones de las plagas en niveles controlados siguiendo premisas ecológicas, económicas y sociales adecuadas.
