El jacobinismo neoliberal del empresariado católico argentino

El jacobinismo neoliberal del empresariado católico argentino

Abstract

The paper aims to explore and analyze the main argument put forward by the argentine catholic business leaders, institutionalized in the Christian Association of Business Leaders (ACDE), during the period of crisis and out of the convertibility regime (1999-2003). We will study not only Institutional productions, also individual interventions and of the certain subgroups working in the institution and hold a strong authority for members. We will focus on the reaction of argentine catholic business leaders to the warnings of catholic ecclesiastical sectors on the social consequences of neoliberal. However, we’ll demonstrate that there were nonbusiness actors inside the network of ACDE which became the main representation of the institutional position and, therefore, advocates of selfregulation of markets and the shoulder of the role of the state in economy. Indeed, stakeholders from the clergy led the theological justification of defense of neoliberalism, with the most radical sectors of the entrepreneurship. After presenting the main arguments, we’ll bring a number of findings related to the study of the different activities carried out by ACDE in the period ACDE, shared places and actors of business, politician and academic fields that were part of his network. In the conclusions, we will seek to reflect on the role that these elements may be in the process of subjective construction and attachment to a particular politicaleconomic ideology.
