Criptorquidia

Abstract

La criptorquidia es un motivo de consulta muy frecuente en Pediatría; sin embargo, nuestros conocimientos sobre las causas y la fisiopatología de la criptorquidia siguen siendo escasos, aún a pesar de la gran cantidad de publicaciones existentes sobre el tema. Asimismo, el enfoque diagnóstico y el tratamiento de los pacientes con criptorquidia siguen generando controversias. En esta revisión, abordaremos los aspectos normales del descenso testicular y luego describiremos y analizaremos críticamente diferentes aspectos de la etiología, fisiopatología, clínica, tratamiento y pronóstico en el paciente con criptorquidia.
