Abstract

El picudo del algodonero (Anthonomus grandis Boheman ) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), es considerada la plaga del cultivo de algodón más destructiva, debido a su capacidad biológica de reproducción, dispersión y colonización, porque ataca los órganos reproductivos disminuyendo el rendimiento. El objetivo de este trabajo fue monitorear la presencia del picudo del algodonero a través de las capturas en trampas con feromona e insecticida para: a) estudiar la evolución de la población a través de cinco campañas algodoneras y b) conocer su dispersión en el Departamento General Obligado (Santa Fe). En abril del 2007 se capturó, en trampas con feromona, el primer picudo del algodonero en Reconquista (Santa Fe). En tres años se dispersó 146 km por el Departamento General Obligado de norte a sur. Las poblaciones capturadas fueron bajas durante los primeros cuatro años, manifestando su presencia a fin de cultivo, debido a que el insecto ha invadido la zona pero no ha logrado colonizarla. En la campaña 2010-2011 se incrementaron los niveles poblacionales por lo que es importante adoptar estrategias de organización, control y manejo para impedir su colonización.
