A questão da paridade no ensino superior

Abstract

A temática da paridade de género na investigação científica e no ensino superior é objecto de estudos na academia mas exige ainda ser objecto de atenção política e legislativa. A disparidade de géneros constitui um desafio significativo, tanto a nível nacional como internacional. Os estudos mais recentes comprovam que as mulheres estão ainda subrepresentadas nos cargos de tomada de decisão na maioria dos Estados-Membros, bem como na própria União Europeia (onde as metas delineadas não foram atingidas) e, isto, apesar de representarem quase metade da força de trabalho e mais de metade das diplomadas no ensino superior. Neste estudo, através de várias pesquisas ainda em desenvolvimento, está a ser tomado em conta o papel da mulher em cargos superiores e na área da investigação, no sentido de demonstrar que ainda não foi atingido o grau de paridade necessário, apesar dos progressos observáveis. Defende-se o papel das universidades no empenho do estudo e promoção das matérias da igualdade de género.
