Cellular ethnography: an emergent proposal of digital ethnography

Abstract

The text outlines an intervention into current discussions regarding digital ethnography. The first part of the paper positions cellular ethnography as a proposal within current advancements in the study of digital culture and the growing interest on innovative methods; the second describes the proposal of cellular ethnography, emphasizing its possibilities in the Latin American region in dialogue with different academic cultures; the third section presents a number of examples of its use in current projects and pedagogical experiences. The conclusions aim to present a future agenda, both as an invitation and as an open question.
