Engine model for real-driving emissions calculation

Abstract

Actualmente existe el interés por conocer el consumo de combustible y las emisiones reales de cada vehículo en su uso cotidiano con el propósito de identificar nuevas estrategias de control por parte de la autoridad ambiental y de desarrollar mejores tecnologías por parte de las empresas manufactureras. Buscando atender dicha necesidad, proponemos usar los avances en las tecnologías de los vehículos y de la información, los cuales permiten conocer segundo a segundo el consumo de combustible y variables de operación del vehículo. Adicionalmente, proponemos usar dicha información como datos de entrada a un modelo que estima las emisiones del vehículo. El presente documento describe el modelo CIMA desarrollado para dicho propósito. Es un modelo termodinámico que incorpora conceptos de cinética química. Los resultados del modelo presentan una alta correlación (R2>0.8) con datos experimentales obtenidos en banco de motores y en carretera mediante el uso de PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement System). Sin embargo, tanto los resultados del modelo como los experimentales presentan desviaciones cuando se comparan contra el modelo de estimación de emisiones MOVES de la US EPA.
