El presente documento de tesis caracteriza la reacción de transesterificación de glicerina con dimetil carbonato (DMC) para producir carbonato de glicerol y metanol, empleando una columna de destilación reactiva. A través de simulaciones computacionales en Aspen Plus ®, se logró escalar y construir un prototipo experimental. La metodología propuesta disminuyó un 75% el tiempo de reacción reportado para alcanzar conversiones de glicerina superiores a 90%.
