Estudio Comparativo en Base a Costos de Arquitecturas de Cross-Conectores ópticos Versus Cross-Conectores Electrónicos

Abstract

En esta tesis se analiza y compara a cuatro arquitecturas de crossconectores. Tres de estas arquitecturas son cross-conectores ópticos y una de ellas es un cross-conector electrónico. En el caso de las arquitecturas ópticas, están formadas por componentes totalmente ópticos, es decir, las señales no se convierten nunca en señales eléctricas. Por otro lado, el cross-conector eléctrico recibe la señal óptica y la convierte en electrónica para poderla procesar, posteriormente transforma la señal de eléctrica a óptica. El análisis realizado fue en base al costo que presentan los cuatro crossconectores, el cual es diferente entre sí ya que los componentes que integran dichos cross-conectores son diferentes. Como se podrá observan en la tesis, el cross-conector de menor precio fue el OXC con arquitectura DSM (Demultiplexing Switching and Multiplexing), seguido por el cross-conector electrónico, posteriormente el OXC con arquitectura basada en PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit), y por Último el OXC con arquitectura B&S (Broadcast and Select). Posteriormente se analizan y comparan tres topologías tipo backbone; la de USA, Japón y Europa, aplicando diferente OSNR y ganancia Raman. El análisis de estas redes se realizó para las cuatro arquitecturas de crossconectores, resultando para todos los casos como la más barata, la construida con OXC con arquitectura DSM, enseguida la integrada por cross-conectores electrónicos, después la compuesta por OXC con arquitectura basada en PLC y por Último la que está formada por la arquitectura B&S.
