Entrenamiento de fuerza en la práctica deportiva: zonas de entrenamiento y ejercicios de prevención

Abstract

El entrenamiento de fuerza, ha sido tradicionalmente asociado con los ejercicios de musculación, el culturismo o los levantamientos de peso. No obstante, en los últimos años las evidencias científicas han demostrado que los trabajos de fuerza constituyen un componente esencial del entrenamiento, tanto por sus efectos positivos para mejorar el rendimiento como para prevenir la incidencia de lesiones o atenuar los procesos de envejecimiento. En este artículo, se analizan las variables mecánicas y fisiológicas que definen las cargas y las zonas de entrenamiento de la fuerza, haciendo especial hincapié en intensidad, ya que esta variable, determina, al menos en primera instancia, la orientación de cada carga de trabajo. Por otro lado, se analizan los diferentes pasos metodológicos que deben respetarse para seleccionar adecuadamente los medios y ejercicios de entrenamiento de la fuerza, considerando las necesidades específicas de cada disciplina así como las características de cada deportista para mejorar su rendimiento o prevenir la incidencia de lesiones. Por último, se exponen y comparan los resultados de los últimos trabajos realizados en el laboratorio de entrenamiento de la Universidad Europea de Madrid sobre la aplicación de los ejercicios excéntricos para prevenir la incidencia de lesiones musculares.
