Abstract

Tesis inédita presentada en la Universidad Europea de Madrid. Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud. Programa de Doctorado en Fisioterapia Avanzada La Artrosis es la patologías reumática más prevalente en los países desarrollados entre los adultos por encima de los 20 años. Los síntomas más relevantes de esta patología son el dolor crónico, la pérdida de fuerza muscular, la disminución de la propiocepción y la estabilidad, y por consiguiente el aumento en el riesgo de caídas durante actividades dinámicas. El dolor en los procesos de artrosis tiene un origen de etiología multifactorial, asumiéndose actualmente, gracias a la evidencia científica, la interacción de procesos de sensibilización del sistema nervioso periférico y central. Más allá de estas interacciones, recientes investigaciones relacionan estos procesos neurofisiológicos con factores biopsicosociales. En este sentido, dichos procesos biopsicosociales, como el catastrofismo, se ha observado están relacionados con el incremento de la percepción del dolor, la reducción de la actividad física y el aumento de la discapacidad.
