Posisjonsspesialisering i fotball

Abstract

Abstract This master thesis has researched the topic of Positional Specialization considering historical and contemporary Skill Acquisition Theory. In the purpose of understanding how coaches use, select and train with regard to players´ positions. The thesis explores the research question: How can coaches understand positional specialization as a dynamic process of adaptation within skill development in U19 football academies? Whereby the selection of the thesis was based in U19 professional football academy coaches, in a qualitative interviews. The thesis´ main findings are that coaches persist a sight of positions as a tool for enhancing players skill repertoire and supporting the team in a way that best suits each individual skill. This is underpinned by focusing on training which gives players relevant stimuli to the competition setting, either related to their position or in the case of differentiating their skill development. The thesis suggests that skill acquisition based on principles from Ecological Dynamics better equips players to handle positional demands in match situations. Keywords: Skill Development; Football Positions; Ecological Dynamics; Football Academies
