Abstract

Abstract Title:Dementia Background This topic was chosen based on our work experience on our work experience in nursing home with patients suffering from dementia, and the subject is very interesting due to the growing number of elderly people worldwide. In 2021, there was approximately 57 million people who live with dementia globally. Over 60% of them were in low-and middle-income countries. There is nearly 10 million new cases recorded each year (WHO,2025). Purpose This study aims to highlight about what nurses can do throgh evidence based approches to promote coping in patients who have dementia and who is living in nursing homes. Method Aliterature study with qualitative, quantitative, and review resurch articles.the structured searches were cared out in the database CINHAL complete and PUB-Med resulting in inclusion of seven articles. Results The analysis process revealed three main themes: person-centerd approch, nom-pharmacological interventions and cognitive stimulatin. Conclusion Based on the included artickles, this literature study has highlighted how nurses can promote coping in individuals with dementia in nursing homes throgh three main approches: person-centered approch, non-pharmacological interventions, and cognitive stimulatin. Sammendrag Tittel :Demens Bakgrunn På bakgrunn valg av tema har vi arbeidserfaring fra sykehjem med personer med demens og tema er interessant på grunn av økende antall eldre mennesker i verden. I 2021 hadde om lag 57 millioner mennesker demens på verdensbasis, og over 60 % av dem bodde i lav- og mellominntektsland. Hvert år er registreres nærmeste 10 millioner nye tilfeller (WHO,2025). Hensikten Hensikten med denne oppgaven er å utforske og belyse hva sykepleier kan gjøre, gjennom dokumenterte tilnærminger for å fremme mestring hos personer med demens i sykehjem. Metode En literatur studie der kvantitative og kvalitative forskningsartikler sammen med en rewiew forskningsartikler ble brukt strukturerte søk i databaser CINAHL-complete og PUB-Med, og det ble inkludert syv artikler. Resultat: Analyseprosessen avdekket tre hovedtemaer: personsentrert tilnærming,ikke-medikamentell intervensjon, og kognitiv stimulering. Konklusjon Basert på de inkluderte artiklene har denne literaturstudien belyst hvordan sykepleiere kan fremme mestring hos personer med demens i sykehjem gjennom tre hovedtilnærminger,som er personsentrert tilnærming, ikke-medikamentelle intervensjoner, og kognitiv stimulering.
