Abstract

Title: Therapeutic relationship between nurse and patients with Anorexia Nervosa Keywords: Anorexia Nervosa, mental health, therapeutic alliance, nursing Background: Anorexia Nervosa is the mental illness with the highest mortality rate and can affect anyone at any time in their live. Many nurses do not want to work with patients with eating disorders because the disorder is complex, expertise varies and many have negative attitudes. Many patients experience a poor first encounter with the health care system. Purpose: The purpose of the literature study is to explore how nurses should meet patients with eating disorders to promote a desire for recovery, and how patients are affected by nurses’ therapeutic approach Research problem: Witch factors influence the therapeutic relationship between nurse and patients with Anorexia Nervosa? Method: A literature study using qualitative articles. Through structured searches, we included nine articles in total. The databases used were Pubmed and CINAHL Results: Our analysis refers to three main themes: Knowledge and personal experience, different frameworks for the therapeutic relationship, and issues related to the therapeutic relationship Conclusion: The literature review highlights trust, knowledge, and empathy as crucial when caring for patients with Anorexia Nervosa. A strong therapeutic relationship supports recovery, and the study emphasizes the need for increased nursing competence and more individualized approaches in treatment.
