Sosial ulikhet i skolen

Abstract

Lik rett til utdanning har vært, og er en viktig målsetting for skolepolitikk i Skandinavia. Hensikten er at skolen skal gi alle barn og unge like muligheter og de samme rettighetene. Gjennom dette skal skolen bidra til sjanselikhet for alle, og utdanningssystemet skal dermed kunne redusere sosial ulikhet i samfunnet. I tillegg finnes det i lovverket også et forskjells-prinsipp i skolen, ved at de elevene som har de dårligste forutsetningene skal få noe ekstra gjennom individuelle rettigheter tilknyttet for eksempel spesialundervisning. Lik rett til utdanning, knyttet til sjanselikhet og et forskjells-prinsipp, er viktig fordi utdanning er et ubetinget gode (Føllesdal, 1999).
