Utvikling av resiliens for risikoutsatte barn

Abstract

Abstract Development of resilience for children at risk: The purpose of this thesis is to gain more insight and knowledge about how teachers can work with children at risk to promote resilience, despite daily challenges. Research question: “In which way can teachers play a defining role in promotion of resilience for children at risk?” The method of the thesis is chosen to gain insight in the experiences of 3 teachers and a principal, as well as their understanding of how to develop resilience in children at risk. Because of this, semi-structured interviews were conducted. The analysis process is inspired by thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006, s. 87-93). The findings have been divided into three main topics: Resilience, the role of the teacher and systems in schools. Findings and conclusion: The findings and conclusions of the thesis is that the teacher can have a determining role in the development of children’s resilience. The teacher can create good relations by acknowledging, listening to and supporting the children. This can affect learning and development. By surrounding the children with good systems, it can help create a safe and predictable environment for the children.
