Eldres bruk av helseog omsorgstjenester

Abstract

I denne publikasjonen har Statistisk sentralbyrå samlet et knippe artikler om eldres bruk av helse- og omsorgstjenester. Bakgrunnen er at det i løpet av de neste 40 årene vil bli om lag dobbelt så mange eldre i Norge som i dag. Det er derfor viktigere enn noen gang å få oversikt over hvilke helse- og omsorgstjenester eldre har behov for, og hvordan dagens eldre bruker de tjenestene samfunnet tilbyr når helse og funksjonsevne svekkes. Utgangspunktet for beskrivelsen er Statistisk sentralbyrås statistikk og befolkningsfremskrivninger. Publikasjonen omfatter artikler om ressursbruk knyttet til eldres bruk av helseog omsorgstjenester, om bruksmønsteret for hjemmetjenester og institusjonstjenester og om omfanget av uformell omsorg. Den gir et tilbakeblikk og ser på hvordan tjenestene har utviklet seg siden 1960-tallet, og forsøker å se fremover på behovet for å styrke tjenestene i årene som kommer, sett i lys av demografiske forhold.
