Abstract

Gapet mellom utviklingshemmedes forutsetninger og arbeidslivets krav øker og gjør utviklingshemmede til en av de gruppene som møter de tyngste barrierene når det gjelder muligheter for sysselsetting. Ved å bygge ned funksjonshemmende barrierer gjennom universell utforming og støtte individets forutsetninger gjennom individuell tilrettelegging kan gapet reduseres. Ulike dokumenter peker på bruk av velferdsteknologi som et virkemiddel for å tilrettelegge for selvstendighet og mestring. Hensikten med denne studien er å undersøke hvordan utviklingshemmedes bruk av velferdsteknologi kan fremme deres sysselsetting. Metoden er litteraturstudie og datagrunnlaget består av fem vitenskapelige artikler som analyseres deskriptivt. Funnene våre viser at utviklingshemmedes bruk av velferdsteknologi kan fremme sysselsetting ved å bidra til økt selvstendighet og oppgavemestring i ulike arbeidssituasjoner. Konklusjonen er at utviklingshemmedes bruk av velferdsteknologi kan bygge opp individuelle forutsetninger ved å muliggjøre, styrke og utvide deres funksjonsevne og sammen med universell utforming minske gapet i arbeidslivet slik at mulighetene for sysselsetting fremmes.
