Smitteforsøk med Lepeophtheirus salmonis på Oncorhynchus gorbuscha og Salmo salar

Abstract

Hovedmålet med denne studien var å teste om kopepoditter av lakselus (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) som har vært festet på pukkellaks (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) kan smitte og etablere seg på atlantisk laks (Salmo salar) eller om de er døde eller svekket av pukkellaksens vertsrespons, og av den grunn ikke vil kunne smitte atlantisk laks. Tross høy smittedoser klarte ikke atlantisk lakselus å etablere seg på pukkellaks, og det ble kun funnet copepoditter og chalimus I på fisken. Derimot klarte lakselus å smitte og etablere seg på atlantisk laks etter å ha vært festet på pukkellaks. Det er i tillegg tatt histologiske hudprøver med og uten lus fra pukkellaks og atlantisk laks for å sammenligne en eventuell vertsrespons. Det ble ikke funnet tegn til vertsrespons på histologiske undersøkelser av pukkellaks og atlantisk laks infisert med lakselus.
