Fortellinger om parforhold og alkoholproblemer

Abstract

Masteroppgaven er en kvalitativ studie av det sosiale fenomenet parforhold og alkoholproblemer. Rusmiddelproblemer er et komplekst fenomen og har mange konsekvenser som også rammer parforholdet. Målet med undersøkelsen var å få innsikt i hvordan individer snakket om sine livserfaringer med utgangspunkt i denne problemstillingen: “Hva forteller personer som lever i et parforhold med alkoholproblemer, om rusens innvirkning på parforholdet, når den ene er i rusbehandling?” Denne narrative undersøkelsen baserte seg på empiri fra 4 dybdeintervjuer, med 4 personer, totalt 2 par. Gjennom narrativ analyse ble det identifisert 5 hovedfunn: (1) Historien om kjærlighet. Handlet om parforholdets kvaliteter og emosjonelle bånd. (2) Historien om det egentlige parforholdet. Handlet om at relasjonen i rusfrie perioder ble opplevd som kjernerelasjonen. (3) Historien om forhandling. Handlet om ulik forståelse av alkoholproblemet. (4) Historien om alkoholproblemets innvirkning på parforholdet. Handlet om hvordan relasjonen ble endret og de vanskene det medførte. (5) Historien om endret samspill. Handler om asymmetri i relasjonen. Det empiriske materialet har blitt diskutert i lys av systemteori, sosialkonstruksjonisme, 12- trinns filosofi, perspektiver på parforhold i dag, tilknytningsteori, narrativ teori og annen relevant forskning på feltet. Fortellingene reflekterer diskurser om parforhold og alkoholproblematikk. Undersøkelsen er situert i en behandlingsfase og beskriver en sosial prosess.
