Abstract

Bakgrunn: I Norge er det mange personer som er plaget av migrene og konsekvensene er store for samfunnet generelt og individet spesielt. Hensikten med denne studien er å utforske og beskrive erfaringene pasienter med migrene har med norsk psykomotorisk fysioterapi (NPMF). Metode: Kvalitativt forskningsdesign forankret i en hermeneutisk og fenomenologisk tilnærming. Datainnsamling ble foretatt gjennom individuelle, semistrukturerte intervjuer med fire voksne kvinner med migrene. Malteruds systematiske tekstkondensering ble benyttet som dataanalyse. Resultat: Analysen ledet til tre resultatkategorier som beskriver deltakernes erfaringer med norsk psykomotorisk fysioterapi; “Se hele meg”, “Kroppen - en kilde til økt forståelse av seg selv” og “Hjelp til selvhjelp”. Konklusjon: Deltakerne opplevde at NPMF var til hjelp for å oppdage sammenhenger mellom tidligere livserfaringer, nåværende livsstil og kroppslige reaksjoner, og hvordan dette kunne henge sammen med migreneanfall. Resultatene antyder at NPMF som behandlingstilnærming kan være egnet for denne pasientgruppen.
