Abstract

Internasjonale undersøkelser identifiserer en nedgang i norske elevers leseferdigheter. Elevene leser mindre både på skolen og på fritiden. Dette gir utslag i lavere måloppnåelse i nasjonale ferdighetstester i lesing, og mer konkret peker PISA-undersøkelsen på at leseferdighetene hos hver femte femtenåring er så lave at de vil kunne få utfordringer i møte med fremtidig samfunn- og arbeidsliv (PISA, 2019, s. 6). Denne studien har med grunn i tre kvalitative intervjuer fått innsikt i hvordan norsklærere bruker skolebiblioteket for å fostre leselyst blant sine elever. En tematisk analyse av kvalitativ empiri viser at norsklærerne fremhever aktiv veiledning, høytlesing og timeplanfestet lesetid som viktige lesestimuleringstiltak. I det videre går det frem at samarbeid og forankring på tvers av skolen som enhet er en viktig faktor for å lykkes med leselyst. Til sist identifiserer studien tilgjengelighet på bøker som et viktig tiltak for å både eksponere, men også stimulere elevene til lesing for lesingens skyld.
