Frafall i videregående skole Betydningen av skole-hjem-samarbeid for å hindre frafall

Abstract

Is it easier to drop out when there is no collaboration? Or has the collaboration had no effect on the student dropping out. To answer the problem, I have conducted qualitative interviews whit teachers who have worked in upper secondary schools, as contact teachers, for over 5 years. The teachers have experience with both school-home cooperation and dropouts. They can contribute with knowledge about what is important in preventing dropouts. The finding show that school-home cooperation is important in counteracting some dropouts. This collaboration needs to be more systematized already in VG1 so that the teachers carry it out equally. An important theoretical framework has been Axel Honneth`s theory of recognition. The findings show the importance of being seen and that someone recognizes them in a demanding theoretical school life. In this way, the master`s thesis helps to show the importance of school-home cooperation beyond upper secondary school. A well-functioning and appreciative collaboration with parents can probably help prevent school dropouts.
