Samisk motstand

Abstract

Hvordan bidrar sør-samiske artister til en revitalisering av den sør-samiske kulturen? Og hvorfor er dette viktig? Denne oppgaven utforsker forholdet mellom joik og samers rett til selvbestemmelse og selvidentitet i Norge. Den utforsker også arven etter fornorskningen, og hvordan mange av holdningene som ble brukt i assimileringen fortsatt henger igjen i dag. Oppgaven drøfter hvordan tap av selvidentitet etter fornorskningen kan føre til tap av liv, dette diskuteres i rapporten fra SANKS om forebygging av selvmord i Sápmi. Oppgavens funn indikerer at joik er en viktig del av politisk mobilisering, samtidig som at joiken sier noe om alle delene av det hverdagslivet og den samiske tilværelsen. Joik er en viktig del av den samiske selvfølelsen. Revitaliseringen av joiken blir derfor viktig for å ta tilbake den samiske kulturen som gikk tapt under fornorskningen. Den kan også bidra i større forståelse og dermed aksept for viktigheten av samer som en kulturbærende gruppe. Nøkkelord: Joik, sør-samisk musikk, nasjonalisme, fornorskning, revitalisering og urfolksrettigheter.
