The topic of these thesis is Education for Sustainable Development. My problem statement deals with changes that have occurred with sustainable development through the curriculum of 2006 to the curriculum of 2020, and what impact this has on students. I have used document analysis as a method to shed light of the changes that have taken place The theoretical basis for the thesis is theories that deals with education, didactics, sustainable didactics and previous research. The theory is used to illuminate how the changes from the problem affect the students in today’s school. The main findings in the thesis are that through the curriculum 2020, there have been changes in how sustainable development is presented in the curriculum and the overall part. The findings indicate that students have better conditions for learning sustainable practices today then in the past. Another finding is that sustainable development as an interdisciplinary topic can make students more active in teaching.
