Foreldre i konflikt og barn i familieterapi

Abstract

Denne mastergradsoppgaven er en kvalitativ studie som tar for seg hvordan familieterapeuter jobber med barn som har foreldre i konflikt. Nyere forskning viser at høyt konfliktnivå mellom foreldre kan gi skadelige konsekvenser for barn. Formålet med denne oppgaven er derfor å finne ut av følgende problemstillingen: Hvordan jobber familieterapeuter for å ivareta barnet i møte med foreldre i konflikt, og på hvilken måte er familiesenteret et forebyggende tiltak? Problemstillingen blir besvart gjennom kvalitativt semistrukturert intervju av 4 familieterapeuter fra ulike familiesentre i Agder. Analysen har en temaanalytisk tilnærming og vil inneholde ulike temaer som er av spesielt interesse. Informantene i denne oppgaven uttrykker en overbevisning om at det er samtale med foreldrene som kan hjelpe et barn. Det er lite effektivt og nyttig å ha mange samtaler med barnet hvis ikke forholdene i hjemmet bedrer seg. I likhet med teorien viser det seg at konflikt kan skape vekst og endring, men familieterapeutene er ikke like positive til ordet konflikt. De bruker derimot heller ordet uenighet og ønsker å ufarliggjøre uenighetene som foreldrene har. Informantene opplever bedring hos familiene som kommer dem og anser derfor familiesenteret og familieterapi som et forebyggende tiltak.
