Bacheloroppgave i sykepleie

Abstract

Bakgrunn: I Norge blir ca. 1000 mennesker i aldersspennet 15-35 diagnostisert med kreft hvert år. Pasientene opplever både store fysiske og psykiske endringer. I ung alder kan kropp være et særlig sårbart tema som får for lite oppmerksomhet ved kreftbehandling. Årsakene til dette kan være mange og vi ønsker å undersøke dette videre. Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven er å undersøke hvordan unge mennesker opplever et endret kroppsbilde ved kreftbehandling. Metode I oppgaven bruker vi litteraturstudie som metode. Det vil si at vi har samlet data fra fire ulike forskningsartikler for å besvare oppgaven. I tillegg trekker vi inn relevant litteratur og personlige refleksjoner som til sammen utgjør besvarelsen på bacheloroppgaven. Resultater Resultatene viser at de fleste pasientene trenger støtte og veiledning relatert til kroppsbilde ved kreftbehandling. Likevel er det lite fokus på kartlegging og oppfølging av kroppsbildet. Pasientene opplever store utfordringer ved kroppsforandringene de møter, samt sekundæreffekter av endringene som tap av identitet og negative reaksjoner fra samfunnet. Diskusjon Det finnes ulike barrierer som gjør at sykepleiere ikke møter pasientene på alle behov. For at pasienten skal ivaretas på en helhetlig måte, er det essensielt at sykepleier har kompetanse og er bevisst på kroppsbilde som et problem hos mange unge kreftpasienter. Funnene indikerer at kompetansemangel, og for lite bevissthet rundt tema hos sykepleier, kan føre til mangelfull omsorg.
