Abstract

In this bachelor thesis, As a researcher I have tried to find out the staff's practice and views in work with the use of power and force in encounters with children with developmental disabilities in primary school. In that context, I made the issue; How do staff at primary schools experience the use of power and force in encounters with students with disorders of intellectual development? In this context, I have conducted qualitative interviews with questions that say something about what force and power are, how this is experienced in the workplace, and what assessments the employees make when applying this in school. Through the research, I have tried to have a neutral view so that discussion and understanding should not be influenced by my own pre-understanding and experience. The research focuses on the staff's experiences and subjective opinions, at the same time as the legal and professional aspects emerge in the light of the use of power and force.

I denne bacheloroppgaven har jeg som forsker prøvd å finne ut personalets praksis og syn i arbeid med bruk av tvang og makt i møte med utviklingshemmede barn i barneskolen. I den sammenheng laget jeg problemstillingen; Hvordan opplever ansatte ved barneskoler bruk av tvang og makt i møte med elever med psykiske utviklingshemninger? Jeg har i den sammenheng gjennomført kvalitative intervjuer med spørsmål som sier noe om hva tvang og makt er, hvordan dette oppleves på arbeidsplassen, samt hvilke vurderinger de ansatte tar ved anvendelse av dette i skolen. Gjennom forskningen har jeg prøvd å ha et nøytralt syn for at drøfting og forståelse ikke skal bli påvirket av egen for-forståelse og erfaring. Forskningen har sitt fokus rettet mot personalets erfaringer og subjektive meninger, samtidig som det juridiske og faglige kommer frem i lys av anvendelse av tvang og makt.
