Childhood emotional abuse and intimate partner violence are both common problems in todays society. This literature review has examined whether growing up with emotional abuse increases the chance of being exposed to or committing intimate partner violence in adulthood. The thesis is based on four peer-reviewed articles and relevant literature. Emotional abuse is highligted as difficult to define and detect, thus a topic that is poorly focused and researched, despite its concequenses.
Emosjonelt misbruk og intim partnervold er begge utbredte problem i dagens samfunn. Denne litteraturstudien har undersøkt om å vokse opp med emosjonelt misbruk øker sjansen for å bli utsatt for eller begå intim partnervold senere i livet. Oppgaven har tatt utgangspunkt i fire fagfellevurderte artikler og relevant litteratur. Emosjonelt misbruk blir fremhevet som vanskelig å definere og oppdage, dermed et tema som er lite fokusert og forsket på til tross for dets konsekvenser.
