Demokrati og rettferdighet i klimapolitikk

Abstract

I denne studien har jeg undersøkt i hvilken grad vi kan rettferdiggjøre en avdemokratisering av klimapolitikk. Demokrati som styreform blir ofte tatt for gitt, mens jeg i denne oppgaven vil belyse hvorvidt en form for epistokrati kan rettferdiggjøres i klimapolitiske spørsmål. Sentrale spørsmål for å spare på problemstillingen; «kan vi rettferdiggjøre en avdemokratisering av klimapolitikk?», vil være hvorvidt mennesker er rasjonelle, samt i hvilken grad eksperter kan stoles på til å ta de beste avgjørelsene. Til slutt vurderte jeg også om klimakrisen skaper en så alvorlig situasjon at en avdemokratisering vil være verdt å diskutere. Studien har belyst flere aspekter hvor demokratiet nødvendigvis ikke strekker til, blant annet demokratiets praktiske begrensninger knyttet til geografi. I tillegg har jeg sett hvordan mennesker gjennom demokratiet har muligheten til å stemme etter egne preferanser, selv om dette ikke er for alles beste. Ved bruk av Brennans demokratiske kritikk, utilitarismen og Rawls rettferdighetsteori har jeg belyst hvordan epistokrati kan utfordre demokratiet i en klimapolitisk kontekst. Til slutt viser jeg til hvordan en avdemokratisering faktisk kan rettferdiggjøres, som resultat av oppgavens drøfting.
