Abstract

Problemstilling: Hvordan kan sykepleiere bidra til håp hos unge pasienter med suicidal atferd gjennom en terapeutisk relasjon? Metode: Litteraturstudie basert på seks forskningsartikler fra databasene Cinahl og Medline. Funn: Sykepleiere har et ansvar for etablering av en terapeutisk relasjon, og har derfor en stor betydning i interaksjonen med pasienter med suicidal atferd. Flere faktorer kan skape utfordringer til å bygge en terapeutisk relasjon. Drøfting: Etablering av en terapeutisk relasjon skaper tillit og trygghet for pasienter til å avsløre sine tanker og følelser med sykepleieren, og sykepleieren anser pasienten som et unikt menneske bak lidelsen. Sykepleiere med instrumentelle og begrensede tilnærminger, samt pasienter som opplever skam, skaper utfordringer til å etablere en terapeutisk relasjon. Konklusjon: Sykepleieren etablerer en terapeutisk relasjon med pasienten ved hjelp av flere elementer. Dette medfører at pasienter får utforsket sine selvmordstanker, håndtert sine følelser, identifisert sine styrker og ressurser, utvikler nye mestringsstrategier og utvikler et håp og ønske om å leve.
