Abstract

Hovedfunn: I denne studien deltok 55 biblioteker.

This master thesis seeks to answer the research question “In which ways and to what extent do academic libraries in Norway currently work with scientific dissemination?” and maps out the different activities of scientific dissemination at Norwegian university- and college libraries. The survey also maps out in which alliances academic libraries work and what obstacles they meet. Method: This study is conducted by a quantitative web-based and semi-structured questionnaire which recruited 121 academic libraries. Major findings: 55 respondents participated in this non-representative study which showed more than half of the participants’ libraries officially work with scientific dissemination. However, the extent varies with resources and other conditions applying for each individual institution. The study shows that most of the libraries’ dissemination is a support for researchers, thus their activities are majorily directed towards scientists and users of the information. Conclusion: Academic libraries in Norway work mostly with scientific dissemination towards a scientific audience and user groups that aim for innovation, but to a lesser degree to the public.
