DIGITAL SAMHANDLING I BESLUTNINGSPROSESSEN Hvordan har tvungen digital samhandling påvirket beslutningsprosessen?

Abstract

Abstract Making good decisions has been a topic of research for over half a century. Now the business community is in a completely new situation. 2020 was the year when business management and leadership were put to the test - along with so much else. Managers across the country will make sure to keep the business afloat in a protracted crisis. Social distancing became a necessity and digital interaction played a key role in society not stopping completely. This study examines how digital interaction has affected an essential part of business management, namely the decision-making process. The purpose is to create a deeper insight into how digital interaction has disrupted previous workflows, through the decision-makers' perspective. By gaining greater insight into the factors that influence the decision-making process after a new digital everyday life, both public and private companies can gain a better basis for reinforcing, changing or correcting existing processes. The study was conducted in the form of a qualitative interview survey. Six decision-makers from the Norwegian business community have been interviewed and represent both public and private companies. The relevant decision-makers come from companies that have to a large extent been characterized by forced distancing, where the home office has been central. The findings of the study indicate that technology plays a complex role in the decision making process. Reference is made to ambiguity among the respondents, but the forced digital interaction has undoubtedly disturbed several elements that are part of the process. Some of the elements fall within topics such as meeting activity, effort and attention, business structure and mental barriers.
