Adaptive læringsverktøy for matematikk og fagfornyelsen

Abstract

This study addresses how the use of the adaptive learning tool, Multi Smart Øving, is practiced in school, and what factors influence how teachers use this tool. The study also addresses how different approaches to the use can affect how students' mathematical competence is built up. The title of the thesis is Adaptive learning systems for mathematics and fagfornyelsen, and the thesis' problem is: How is Multi Smart Øving used in the teaching of mathematics seen in the light of fagfornyelsen? The study has been conducted by examining the practice of five teachers who teach mathematics at the intermediate level at four different schools. The informants use Multi Smart Øving in their teaching, and I have gained insight into their practice through interviews and observation. The study reveals that there are certain differences in use among the informants who participate. The findings made in connection with the study show that there are variations regarding which situations the adaptive learning system is used, and to what extent. The study addresses the factors that seem to influence how Multi Smart Øving is used, and in this context emphasizes the teacher's orientation towards teaching, view on knowledge, and the teacher's digital competence. The use of Multi Smart Exercise is seen in accordance with the rest of the mathematics teaching and is assessed against the guidelines that are given through fagfornyelsen. The study takes a closer look at the choices and assessments the informants have made in connection with their use of Multi Smart Øving, and how they believe this approach can help to build up students' mathematical competence.
