Risikopersepsjon blant brooffiserer

Abstract

I denne oppgaven skal det forskes på følgende problemstilling: ”Hvordan oppfattes risiko blant bropersonell?” Sikkerhetsstyringssystemene til rederiene er avhengige av at brooffiserer persiperer risiko og årsaken til risikoen, for å kunne iverksette sikkerhetstiltak. Innrapporterte risikoer må da beskrive selve årsaken til hendelsen, for at rederiet skal kunne fjerne problemet ved roten. God risikopersepsjon blant brooffiserer er dermed avgjørende for å hindre at uønskede hendelser inntreffer. «Mixed methods» ble brukt til å besvare problemstillingen til oppgaven. Metodens formål er å kunne utnytte faktorer fra både kvalitativ og kvantitativ metode fordelaktig i forskningen. Innsamling av data ble gjort ved å utnytte vignetter med kvalitativ utforming som baserte seg på en fiktiv situasjon med risikomoment som respondentene i oppgaven skulle persipere. For en statistisk analyse ble de kvalitative dataene kvantifisert. Dette gjorde det lettere å samle dataene for å skape en bedre oversikt over informasjonen som ble brukt til forskningen. Det ble benyttet både psykologisk og kulturell teori som omhandler risikopersepsjon, for å besvare oppgaven. Fokuset ble delt inn i følgende risikokategorier: - Kommunikasjonsrisiko - Organisatorisk risiko - Mental risiko - Rollefordelingsrisiko I oppgavens resultater kommer det frem at risikoer underlagt de kategoriene som omhandler kommunikasjon og organisatoriske forhold persiperes i middels grad. Risikoer forbundet mentale forhold og rollefordeling ble persipert i liten grad av respondentene. Det er variasjon i risikopersepsjon avhengig av brooffiserens stilling. Kapteiner og overstyrmenn persiperer risikoer rundt kommunikasjon i større grad enn styrmenn. Organisatoriske risikoer persiperes i stor grad likt uavhengig av stilling. Mentale forhold persiperes i større grad av overstyrmenn. Kapteiner er i noen grad bedre til å persipere rollefordelingsrisiko i forhold til overstyrmenn og styrmenn.
