Rapport

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This report describes the academic and the pedagogical work to further develop a blended learning programme at Master level of elder care with an emphasis on mental health at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. The reason for the project was that despite the great shortage of specialized elder care knowledge reported by nursing homes and other sections of the municipal health services, very few students applied to and graduated from the traditional study programme in the 2014-2016 period. The report describes how collaboration on changes to a blended learning programme took place up to and including the first year of study in summer 2018. The blended learning programme comprises a combination of online meetings and regular sessions. The “didactic relational model in online teaching”, constitutes the pedagogical basis of the development and implementation of the education. In blended learning, the special characteristics of the adult student who lives in the countryside, is in full-time employment and has care obligations are described and reflected on in order to facilitate good learning processes and activities for this target group. How can good learning processes and activities be facilitated for this target group?
