Uniformens tilbakekomst i psykisk helsevern

Abstract

Studien har til hensikt å undersøke erfaringer hos helsepersonellet om bruk av uniform i psykisk helsevern i en akutt-psykiatrisk avdeling. Studien er gjennomført med en kvalitativ tilnærming ved bruk av semi-strukturerte intervju av 15 helsepersonell med ulike arbeidserfaringer. Datamaterialet ble analysert ved bruk av Malteruds metode for systematisk tekstkondensering. Informantene hadde ulike tanker og erfaringer med bruk av uniform, både positive og negative. De aller fleste informantene var skeptiske og hadde negative tanker i forkant før uniformen ble tatt i bruk og i oppstarten, men endret meninger etter å ha fått brukt den en stund. Hovedtemaene i resultatkapittelet omhandler uniformens form og funksjon, uniformens grad av innvirkning på det miljøterapeutiske arbeidet og refleksjoner etter endring; før oppstart, underveis og etterpå. Funnene indikerer at endringsprosesser vekker noe i helsepersonalet. Fra negative tanker og forestillinger om hvilke konsekvenser en endring kan få, til en positiv mening som viser at denne endringsprosessen ikke var som de forestilte seg. Studien gjør oss i stand til å rette fokus på både styrker og svakheter på uniform, og den gir oss et innblikk i uniformens relevans i arbeid med mennesker på en akuttseksjon i psykisk helsevern.
