Abstract

English: This report concerns the candidates completed their studies with subject education and practice educational training ended in the period 2011–2013. The Centre for Studies of Educational Practice (SePU) at Hedmark University College has conducted the report on behalf of Hedmark University College. The main purpose of the survey was to obtain feedback from the finished educated candidates for transition to work, about the employment situation and the relationship between education and the jobs they have received. This report is the third in a series that deals with this transition for various professional graduates and bachelorgroups at Hedmark University College (Knudsmoen and Berg 2013, Berg and Knudsmoen 2014). The survey was conducted using QuestBack as a survey aimed at candidates who received diplomas from 2011 to 2013 on programs mentioned above. For the subject music education was first Class graduated in 2012. In all, 334 candidates received their diplomas in that period in the selected group. The response rate was 41.3. This is fairly equally with similar studies for BA students (Arnesen 2010, Career Center and TNS Gallup 2011, Ramboll 2008 Storen et al. 2012). Consistently the main themes in the survey: justifications for the choice of study at the college, degree of satisfaction with education, education relevance to the workplace, education level of compliance with expectations, needs for higher education, the recommendations of the study to others and suggestions for possible improvements of the educational program. 63 percent of graduates were employed after completing education but many of teacher candidates had continued with further education. 6 percent were seeking employment. Candidates in job were 6 of 10 in permanent positions, but 16 percent worked in other positions than they were trained for or educated in. Most candidates worked in the public sector. Most candidates worked in Hedmark, Oppland, Oslo and Akershus. Only one third of the candidates were satisfied with the monitoring and guidance they had received in the workplace. Candidates assessed their competence consistently positive in areas such as employment skills, communication and outreach skills, general skills and leadership ability even though it was part areas that they felt they should have had more training. They also believed that throughout the study should have had more contact with working life. 43 percent of the candidates believed that their education was attractive in the labor market in competition with similar programs, while 25 percent felt it was unattractive. Nevertheless gave 2/3 of candidates indicated that they were satisfied with the education they had received at Hedmark University College. 10 percent were dissatisfied, but none were very dissatisfied. 53 per cent of graduates would choose the same program again and 25 percent responded that they would not do it. 77 percent would recommend the study.

I alt fikk 334 kandidater vitnemål.
