Sykepleie ved postoperativ delirium

Abstract

Bakgrunn: Delirium er en alvorlig og hyppig forekommende tilstand. Der det kirurgiske behandlingsforløpet er den somatiske behandlingen som gir størst risiko for utvikling av delirium. Sykepleieren spiller en sentral rolle i all forebygging og behandling av delirium. Hensikt: Å se nærmere på sykepleierens rolle i behandlingen av delirium, med sykepleie ved postoperativ delirium som hovedtematikk. For derigjennom å belyse og om mulig besvare den valgte problemstillingen: Hvordan kan sykepleiere best ivareta pasienter med postoperativ delirium, og er dagens sykepleie i tråd med kunnskapsbasert praksis? Metode: Dette er en litterær oppgave. Der en litteraturstudie basert på pensumlitteratur og selvvalgt litteratur, fagbøker, offentlige publikasjoner, seks vitenskapelige artikler og tretten fagartikler, ligger til grunn. Konklusjon: Økt kunnskap og forståelse blant dagens sykepleiere, er nøkkelen til å kunne ivareta pasienter med postoperativ delirium på en best mulig måte. Her må betydningen av miljøterapi, og bruken av vurderingsverktøy i diagnostikken vektlegges. Basert på den fag-litteraturen og forskningen vi har lagt til grunn, er det mye som tyder på at dagens sykepleie ikke er i tråd med kunnskapsbasert praksis.
