Terapiridning som habilitering for utviklingshemmede

Abstract

Sammendrag Utviklingshemmede har ofte dårlig balanse, noe som fører til mobiliseringsproblemer. Gjennom habilitering kan blant annet balansen trenes opp slik at faren for fall reduseres. En form for habilitering er terapiridning. Hensikten med denne studien er derfor å se på hvilken effekt terapiridning har for utviklingshemmede. Problemsstillingen som skal belyses er: Hvilken effekt har ridefysioterapi i habilitering for utviklingshemmede? Metoden som er brukt er litteraturstudie, hvor det er tatt utgangspunkt i fem forskningsartikler på temaet. Resultatene fra disse artiklene gav tre hovedtema som diskuteres opp mot valgt teori. Disse temaene er «en firebeint fysioterapeut», «mye mer en fysisk trening» og «motivasjon – en viktig faktor». Her vises det blant annet til at terapiridning kan gi bedret balanse og reaksjonstid, mindre spastisitet, og bedret selvtillit.
