Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven er skrevet i artikkelform. Den består av en teoretisk og en empirisk artikkel, en fyllestgjørende redegjørelse for metode og teoretisk bakgrunn, og en avsluttende del. Her presenteres sammendrag av de to artiklene. Artikkel I: Hensikten med artikkelen er å utforske forholdet mellom sosiale ulikheter i helse og norsk boligpolitikk med utgangspunkt i den psykososiale helsemodellen. Boligeie og usikkerhet i leiemarkedet er faktorer ved norsk boligpolitikk som kan framstå som stressrelaterte risikofaktorer, spesielt for vanskeligstilte i boligmarkedet. Bolig forstås som en realisering av tilhørighet i sosioøkonomiske hierarkier, og dermed en markør for relativ fattigdom. Artikkelen konkluderer med at markedsdistribuering av boligmarked, et dysfunksjonelt privat leiemarked og et strengt behovsprøvd offentlig leiemarked kan utsette vanskeligstilte grupper for helserelatert risiko. Videre medfører markedsdistribusjon av bolig til økt sosial ulikhet som kan a en ødeleggende effekt på sosial kapital og sosial kohesjon på aggregert nivå. Artikkel II: Tema for artikkelen er hvordan sammenhenger mellom boligforhold og helse ser ut fra de vanskeligstiltes perspektiv. Artikkelen er basert på kvalitative intervjuer med vanskeligstilte på boligmarkedet, og søker nye forståelser for sammenhenger mellom boforhold og helse. En bolig- og et hjem er sentrale elementer i et godt og verdig liv og derfor en grunnleggende helsedeterminant. Informantenes bolighistorier knyttes til psykososiale helseaspekter. Friheten informantene kjenner på etter å komme i stabile boforhold knyttes til kontroll over eget liv og mulighet for planlegging. Videre kan en stabil bosituasjon gi nødvendig fysisk og emosjonell beskyttelse og stabilitet. Til slutt fokuseres det på boforhold som arena for å bidra i sosiale fellesskap og mulighet for å bli identifisert som en positiv bidragsyter.
